Last week at New York Climate Week, Energy Peace Partners co-hosted the launch of a series of short films showcasing real-world examples of renewable energy projects that are helping to prevent conflict and promote peace. The launch event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders from various sectors - including renewable energy, conflict resolution, government and international institutions, academia, and multilateral finance - and generated new momentum and excitement around the renewable energy and peace agenda.
Developed and produced in collaboration with the Stanley Center for Peace and Security, The Stimson Center, and The John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding at Dartmouth, the films feature first-hand testimonies from EPP project developer partners and the communities they serve in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, and South Sudan. In their own words, they describe how renewable energy projects are improving resilience, serving as an anchor for stability, helping communities resolve disputes, and shifting the incentives that sustain war economies.
