New P-RECs available and reflections from the Africa Climate Summit

It’s been a busy few months at EPP, with steady progress across our program areas. From the Africa Climate Summit to New York Climate Week, our team has been at the forefront of conversations around renewable energy, sustainability, fragility, peace, and security. As the international landscape continues to shift and evolve in real-time, we are encouraged by the steady commitment of so many to the pursuit of peace, equitable development, and responsible investing.

P-REC Deal book published featuring new 2025 P-REC projects

It’s the annual harvest season in voluntary clean energy markets, and we recently published a new P-REC “Deal Book” to highlight P-REC projects, and help buyers find P-RECs that align with their sustainability and impact targets. The Deal Book offers a comprehensive portfolio of currently registered P-REC projects - across six countries - and a pipeline of future P-REC projects.

Report Launch: Renewable Energy and Peace in the Central African Republic - An Opportunity for the United Nations to Lead by Example

Next Monday, 3 November we’ll be co-hosting the launch of our Powering Peace report Renewable Energy and Peace in the Central African Republic - An Opportunity for the United Nations to Lead by Example. The report is our latest comprehensive country assessment, looking at the role of energy in specific conflicts, opportunities for renewable energy to support peacebuilding, and the opportunities and challenges for UN Peacekeeping to embrace renewables. This event will address key issues of climate, peace and security, including: the role of the CAR’s energy sector in the broader dynamics of the country, efforts by the UN mission - MINUSCA - to transition its energy supply to renewables, and opportunities to link these UN efforts to also help support peacebuilding.

P-RECs featured at Carbon Finance and Migration Summit in Seoul

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) organized the first-ever Carbon Finance and Migration Summit in Seoul, South Korea. The event focused on innovative carbon finance solutions for fragile settings, highlighting IOM’s successful P-REC transactions, including the recent purchase from South Sudan by YG Entertainment, which funded the solar electrification of a local university. This purchase was used to offset electricity usage from two concerts by K-POP superstars BLACKPINK, and marked the first-ever P-REC purchase by a South Korean Company. EPP President Dave Mozersky presented on EPP’s evolution, the growth of the P-REC market, and opportunities for Korean companies to advance sustainability and social impact.

Reflections from the Africa Climate Summit

Last month EPP's Program Director Linda Wamune attended the second ever Africa Climate Summit, in Addis Ababa, and shared this key message: Africa is ready to take charge of its own destiny through locally led solutions to climate change.

GHG Protocol consultation period now open

The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) began its  60-day public consultation period last week for proposed revisions. The Leapfrog Alliance, a coalition that brings together nearly 20 diverse nonprofits globally around the idea of creating stronger incentives for corporate investment in clean energy access in unelectrified and underserved communities, has published this article outlining five recommendations for the public feedback.
