Baseline data collection: Abudwak, Somalia, August 2024
In September 2022, Cabudwaaq Electric Company (CECO), a Somali independent mini-grid company, inaugurated a 500kWp solar system in Abudwak City, Somalia. P-RECs being issued from this project have been purchased, with revenue funding the installation of 100 streetlights in the city’s market area, aiming to boost security and extend business operating hours. In August 2024, 200 household surveys were collected in Abudwak, serving as a baseline study for their planned streetlight project, as well as providing an assessment of CECO’s electrification project. The survey is designed to measure changes in socio-economic conditions on individual as well as community levels of peacefulness, using the Positive Peace framework.
