What is an I-REC? 

The  International REC (I-REC) Standard is the dominant tracking system for international EACs, known as I-RECs. An I-REC represents the environmental attributes of the generation of a one-megawatt hour (MWh) of energy produced by renewable sources.

What is a P-REC? 

P-RECs are I-RECs with an impact label from Energy Peace Partners certifying the environmental and social benefits associated with qualifying projects in fragile settings. P-REC issuing projects go through a specific qualification process.

EPP’s role

In addition to being the global issuer of P-RECs, EPP is the I-REC issuer in the following countries: 

• Chad

• Democratic Republic of Congo

• Ethiopia

• Haiti

• Somalia

• South Sudan
